Camden HS returns 11 starters from a team that went 11-3, won their third straight region championship, won their second consecutive AAA Lower State Championship, and finished AAA state runner-up for the second straight year.
According to head coach Brian Rimpf, the Bulldogs have unfinished business.
“The expectations are high,” said Rimpf. “We will be chasing the program’s first state championship since 2001 as we set to reload, not rebuild. A tough non-region schedule will test the us early with 4A state powers such as: Hartsville, Myrtle Beach, and AC Flora on the schedule, along with defending 2A state champion Gray Collegiate.”
Returning seniors are Xzavier McLeod, DT, 6’5”, 320, , Henry Green, DB, 6’2”, 175, Shymeik Jones, DE, 6’6”, 250, Dylan Locklear, DB, 5’10”, 165, Aiiji Gray, LB, 5’8”, 175, Wyatt Tanner, OL, 6’2”, 240 and Walker Lollis, OL, 5’10”, 220.
Returning junior starters are Grayson White, QB, 5’11”, 250, Jah Mayrant, WR/DB, 5’10, 175, Averee Hickmon, RB, 5’8”, 175, and Cortez Lane, WR, 5’9”, 175.
If the Bulldogs can win their fourth straight region championship in 3A-6 they will secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs. This will be important as Historic Zemp Stadium is the best stadium in SC on Friday nights!
