The Pelion Panthers will return just 11 players who either started or had significant playing experience and Head Coach Dann Holland knows that will be a challenge.
“We will be very inexperienced,” said Holland, “but We have a good group to work with.”
Just two senior starters return to the offense. Dalton Blackburn (6’2,180), who will also play defense, and Luke Keck (6’2,270) are both back. Joining them will be juniors Luke New (5’10,170) at WR, Julian Tyler (5’10,180) at WR, Todd Foster (6’0,180) at TE, Carlos Rivea (5’9,155) at RB and Blake Taylor (5’11,200) on the line. Sophomore offensive linemen Lane Brown (6’1,280) and Kalen James (6’0,230) also return to the trenches.
Defensively, some of the same names will be there. Blackburn will play safety, Luke New will play some free safety, Blake Taylor will be on the defensive line, Julian Tyler will play cornerback, and Jordan Donovan (6’1,190) will be on the line.
“We should have the depth to two platoon which we will have to use to our advantage,” said Holland. “We need wins early to gain some confidence before a very tough region schedule.”
