Team Preview: Orangeburg Wilkinson Bruins

The Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins are looking to be more than competitive in 2022 and with eleven returning starters they have a chance to be just that.

QB DeAndre Simmons

Offensively, they return six starters including seniors OL Jaquan Sprinkle (6’3,315), WR Jordan Perry (6’3,200), WR TraQuan Young (6’2,165), RB Joqwan Guinyard (5’7,150), sophomore center David Blanchard (6’3,220), and quarterback Anthony Mack (5’10,155). Mack is a three year starter and the Bruins will be grooming junior DeAndre Simmons (6’3,210) at quarterback as well. Coach Chris Carter says that Mack is the starter but Simmons has a chance to be special.

Defensively, the Bruins have fouir senior starters returning with big noseguard Demond Sprinkle (6’1,315), DB Maurice LIvington (5’2,175), and linebackers Avery Sabb (5’10,165) and Jabari Gaffney (6’2,265), who also plays up at defensive end.

Look for special things from kicker/punter Don-Tariq Nash-Perkins, a 6’1,200 senior.
“We have the potential to be very good,” said Head Coach Chris Carter. “Question mark is O-Line play and QB play while adapting to a new more open offensive system. Defensively, we will be strong with a kicker that is good from 40 or better.”
