The Airport Eagles enter 2022 with a new head coach, Andre Cook, who came over from River Bluff to take on the Athletics Director/Head Coach job for the Eagles. he takes on a tough assignment, with a team that will be breaking in new faces at most of ths skills positions from a team that went 2-9 and 1-3 in region play last season.
But one skills position he won’t have to worry about is the wide receiver spot on offense because when Coach Cook came to Airport he brought his son, Apollos Cook, who is the Midlands top wide receiver and one of the top two or three wide receivers in the state’s 2023 class.
Several of the seniors are going to see time on both sides of the football. Julian Glover (6’1,310) will play OL and DL as will DJ McFadden (6’5,320) and Foster Barrs (5’10,215). Chad Dulinsky (5’1,320)will play on the offensive front, as well. Senior Kendell Stroman (6’2,160) will double as WR and DB, Jordan Mimms (5’11,180) will play RB and DB, Logan Crawford (5’10,160) will line up at WR and Carlos Anderson (5’10,190) will play linebacker on defense.
Junior lineman Dylan Barbery (6’6,270) will play both sides of the ball up front, juniors Sebastian Sapp (5’8,150) will play DB and Trey Neil (5’9,160) will play outside linebacker.
“I love this team,” said Cook. ” They have bought into our way of doing things and will only continue to get better the more time we spend together. We are young but also have talent in many areas. A big focus for us will be trying to build our depth. I believe we can compete for a region championship this season and my kids and coaches believe it also.”
