Midlands Position Rankings: Tight Ends

The Midseason Player-Position rankings are an updated version to our Top 100 List, broken down by position. As stated when the original rankings came out, the list would change throughout the season as the senior film came in and it certainly has changed. We will do one more revision in post season for the final position rankings.

This is a small group but a very good group. There are a couple of guys in this group who could end up playing OT at the next level but all on this list are athletic. Ridge View’s Tracy Stephens is big strong guy who is long, has good hands as a receiver but his stronger suite is blocking. He’s even played down at tackle this season some and is very strong in the interior line. Spring Valley’s Kendell Williams is a pure tight end. He’s a first year football, former basketball star, who has looked very good at the end position this season. He’s got a long body and can go up and fight for balls and has shown to be better than proficient at blocking from the tight end spot. Blythewood’s Anthony Thurman could be the best on this list if he played full time tight end. He plays defensive end for hte Bengals, as well, and is a Top Ten player on that list. Jackson Mosely of AC Flora is another strong run blocker and athletic. He is another one that could find himself on the interior line at the next level. River Bluff’s Blaine Rose lacks the size for big school ball as a tight end, but he’s very strong in his skills as a blocker and as a receiver. Cardinal Newman’s Logan Busenleihner, l can play the  tight end spot at the next level but is a good enough receiver to move outside if he has to. Pelion’s Dalton Blackburn is also undersized but does a very good job for the Panthers. He’s athletic and can play somewhere on the field at the next level but I don’t think it will be at tight end.
