Midlands Position Rankings: Offensive Linemen

The Midseason Player-Position rankings are an updated version to our Top 100 List, broken down by position. As stated when the original rankings came out, the list would change throughout the season as the senior film came in and it certainly has changed. We will do one more revision in post season for the final position rankings.

This offensive line position is one that is, for the most part, purely based on film. Few coaches send in offenisve line grades and because those vary so much depending on how they grade the players, it’s best just to rely on the eye in the sky. The first two gusy on this list, AC Flora’s Kendarious Kinard and Orangeburg-Wilkinson’s Ja’Quan Sprinkle are both road graders. Quick first steps for such big men and explosive with their hands. They drive their opponents down field or down to the ground every play. The third guy on the list, Batesburg-Leesville’s Patrick Swygert, is not a full time offensive tackle. He also plays tight end and defensive end. But his future, in my opinion, is at tackle and he is a good one. He’s athletic and violent with his hands, controlling his opponents every play. I have not seen him get beat on the edge a single time. AC Flora’s Ben Holmes is an athletic big-bodied lineman that is a strong run blocker and even stronger pass protector. Cardinal Newman’s Logan Locklear is an explosive athletic guy who specializes in blowing up defenders as a pulling blocker. Dutch Fork’s Jacob Beasley has a little road grader in him and is one of the best run blockers in the Midlands. Sumter’s Mason Gregg and Lakewood’s Bryson Dickens are both very good run blockers who are going to play football at the DII level or possbilty FCS. Qujick first steps and physical run blockers. Brookland-Cayce’s Jaloni Golston is a big bodied run blocker who can flatten opponents. He’s got good feet and holds his blocks well. Davon Bell of River Bluff is a large guard who is absolutely destructive as a pulling and trap blocker, blowing up defenders. Blake Cook of Gilbert is another strong run blocker who can road grade for his big backs. Lexington’s Luca Feraci is the only center on the list and he is a good one. Rarely a bad snap and is quick to engage after the snap.
