Dabo Swinney’s first official visit weekend in June is paying major dividends. On Wednesday, SAF Kylen Webb (6-1 180) of Sarasota, FL announced a commitment to Clemson on his Instagram account. He picked the Tigers from a short list that also included Florida State, Wake Forest and UCF.
He was a standout at Sumner High School playing both safety and running back. On offense, he rushed for over 400 yards with seven touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 19 tackles while snagging two interceptions.
Webb visited Clemson in March and his recruitment by the Tigers and safeties coach Mickey Conn took off from there.
“With my reaction time off the ball, he (Conn) feels like I can be an impact right away especially considering Clemson plays so many DBs on the field,” Webb said in March. “He explained that without a doubt I can be one of the six DBs on the field making plays right away.”
Webb, who also held offers from Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Miami, among others, is the fourth pledge for the Tigers since the weekend, and he gives the Tigers a total of eight commitments for their 2023 class.
