The Midseason Player-Position rankings are an updated version to our Top 100 List, broken down by position. As stated when the original rankings came out, the list would change throughout the season as the senior film came in and it certainly has changed. We will do one more revision in post season for the final position rankings.
This is the strongest group of running backs in the state, hands down. At the top of the list is Lexington’s Jonah Norris. He’s explosive, he’s got speed and power with a strong lower body. When he sticks his foot in the ground to go North-South and you don’t have a hand on him, he’s gone. He’s got at P5 PWO for South Carolina and one for Coastal and more to come his way. Dutch Fork’s Jarvis Green has missed a couple of games in recent weeks and was off last week. He should be healthy when he retuirns and he is a solid back. He runs with power and has initial speed burst to get through the line and navigate traffic. He lacks separartion speed but he is easily one of the top guys on this list. He is committed to JMU, but honestly, he’s bigger than that. River Bluff’s Cooper Johns is another solid prospect. Cut from the same mold ast Norris, is good at sticking his foot and the ground and bursting North-South. He runs with authority and protects the football. He’s got good hands out of hte backfield and in my opiinion is a solid G5 caliber player. AC Flora’s Markell Townsend is another explosive running back. He hits the holes quicly and navigates traffic well. He’s good good speed and can get to the edge. Lugoff=Elgin’s Sky Harter is a guy who jumped onto the list after two or three games this season. He’s a blue-collar, tough and aggressive runner and has good speed. He’s also a strength champion. Brookland-Cayce’s Naahzekiel Mays is a versatile athlete who runs the ball with an attitude. He’s got good speed and can run inside or find the edge. He’s lined up at the Wildcat positon for the Bearcats and has been lethal doing so. I think he’s more of a slot back. Gilbert’s Alias Graham-Woodberry is one of themore dangerous backs in the Midlands but his size, is holding him up on recruiting. He’s got some DII interest but I think he’s taletned enough to play at the FCS level. Cardinal Newman’s AJ Reyes is another shifty, twitchy runner who has good speed and can separate when he hits space. His isze is a concern for colleges but he can play,in my opinion, easily at the G5 level. CA Johnson’s Caleb Pearson is a solid back with very good speed. He’s actually a guy who could end up playing receiver at the next level. I could see his talent making him a dangerous slot receiver at the next level. Lakewood’s Divon Woods is an explosive runner who can slash through defenses. He’s got excellent speed and cannot be caught from behind. I think he could be a feature back in a Division II program.
