Midlands Position Rankings: Wide Receivers

The Midseason Player-Position rankings are an updated version to our Top 100 List, broken down by position. As stated when the original rankings came out, the list would change throughout the season as the senior film came in and it certainly has changed. We will do one more revision in post season for the final position rankings.

The group of wide receivers in the 2023 Midlands class is outstanding. There are guys on this list who can take over a football game. Airport’s Apollos Cook is the best prospect on the list. He’s got the size and the skills and has earned himself an education from Duke University. Lower Richland’s Nate Branch is a burner type of receiver who may be the most dynamic athlete on this list. Lexington’s Kamadi Maxwell is highly under rated by most but this kid plays big. He can stretch the field and he doesn’t drop the football. Nigel Johnson of Crestwood is a P5 talent or at least G5 caliber. He’s got size and speed, willingness to sacrifice his body across the middle and he is dangerous after the cath. Ridge View’s Zion Agnew is a guy who can catch tough balls and in space, he’s dangerous. Westwood’s Noah Jennings is a G5 talent with excellent hands and speed. Dutch Fork’s Isaiah Jones is under rated and may be the most physical receiver on this list. I thought in the preseason that Mekhi Campfield had the talent to be one of the best in the Midlands and here he is at No. 8. AC Flora’s Chris Lofton is a burner who is dangerous with the football. He’s worth an offer based on his return abilities alone. Saluda’s Zion Wright is highly under rated but he’s a solid prospect. He’s a basketball player with good vertical ability used to banging in the air. He’s got good speed and demonsrates ability to get great YAC. The last two on this list are from Blythewood. Deon Tyler is a guy who could be a very dymamic player at he next level. I belive he has P5 talent as either a WR or a CB. Josh Gary has put up good numbers this year and he is a speedster with the ball in his hands. There’s not a player on this list who drops footballs and that is why everyone of them is on this list.
