1A Notebook: Week Six

There are fewer Class 1A teams in the Midlands than any other class but a couple of these teams are pretty dang good.

  • RB Ahmir Smith

Calhoun County is 4-1 after knocking off Williston Elko this past week. The Saints have a ground game that is crushing defenses and this week they take on a 4-1 HKT team in their second region match up. HKT lost their region opener to Wagener Salley last week Look for big things from RB Ahmir Smith.

  • Wagener-Salley is 2-3 after knocking off Hunter Kinard Tyler in their region pener last week. A big game from Cam Davis led the way and this week they face a winless Blackville-Hilda team.
  • CA Johnson lost a close game to a good 3A Swansea team this past week and this week, they will face a winless Hemingway team before getting into region play next week against Lewisville.RB Dawan Rice continues to rumble his way onto the rushing leaderboard in the Midlands.
  • Ridge Spring Monetta is 0-4 and has played four pretty darn good football teams. This week, they face a Williston-Elko team who has yet to win a game either. Someone will leave this game with their first win and it is a region match up.
