The Fab Five Rankings series is simply a ranking of the top five players at each position based on peformances thus far. This is not a prospect ranking and does not mean No. 1 guy is any better of a prospect than the No. 5 guy. What it means is that these are the rankings as I see it right now based on performance.
The Quarterback position has the most complex formula; it includes every statistic (completions/attempts/pass yards/completion %/TD %/Interception %/Total offense yds/total offense TDs/QB Rating/Quality points based on power ranking of opponents. Every element has a point value. This is the top five based on my QB Formula. This should cause some good debate.
FAB FIVE QUARTERBACKS
1. Cam McMillon, Fairfield Central – Cam’s numbers were so high on a lot of the categories that he ended up with a high point total. His QB rating was second and the way the categories are weighted, his total offensive production put him at the top.
2. Grayson White, Camden – Only2 total points separated White from McMillon. He also put up big numbers in the production categories, particularly in Total TDs.
3. Taiden Mines, Lexington – Again, overall production numbers helped here with Taiden. When we went through all categories for point totals, he maintained 3rd or 4th in almost every category so the formula is pretty accurate.
4. Javion Martin, Crestwood – Martin had a good efficiency rating and his total production numbers were not bad. He did not get quality points based on opponents and that brought him a little short on that point value.
5. Jeff McCalhum, Northside Christian – McCalhum had the highest efficiency rating of any of the quarterbacks. He got behind in points because of the lack of “rushing” yards and touchdowns which resulted in a lower production rating than the other four guys. But he was in the top five and sometimes top three in almost every category.
Other Quarterbacks who were very close in total points:
Riley Staton, Gray Collegiate
Donald Tomlin, Ridge View
Dobson Ricks, Ben Lippen
