West C?olumbia (SC) This is the first set of rankings for the Midlands Class of 2024. As I always state on this release, expect these rankings to change. It will go through several revisions as we continue to evaluate players throughout the season and in the off-season. We will go through the entire Watch List before releasing the “final” version of the rankings.
A Brealdown of the Top Ten
This first version is pretty solid especially through the top ten. Gilbert’s Jaiden Allen-Hendrix is the clear number one right now. He’s got the size and speed and Louisville seems to think so too. I’m not certain he will stay at RB at the next level, however. I look for him to move over to the defensive side of the football. Gray’s Riley Staton has a very smooth throwing motion and a strong arm that spins it with good velocity. He sees the field better than any other QB in this cycle in the Midlands and I believe he is going to see some Power Five love this season. Crestwood’s Khalil
Moody is as solid a DB prospect as you will get. He’s very rangy with his speed and sees the field very well. He already has one offer from Charlotte and more will follow. Lakewood’s Seneca Moore is a fierce linebacker who comes downhill fast and aggressive. He pursues plays very well and plays smart. He’s very athletic and in track and field, he is a 6’4 high jumper. NC State likes this kid a lot and I think as others see him, his stock will rise. Lexington’s Taiden MInes is a very good dual threat quarterback and throws a nice long ball. He has great mobility and can extend plays. His height is going to be a convern for recruiters and may keep him out of Power Five but his talent could
just get him there. Crestwood’s Javion Martin may be the most under rated quarterback in the cycle. You don’t hear a lot about him outside of Sumter but this kid can play. He’s a three year starter this season and has the arm and the wheels that make him the explosive impact player he is. Branxton Burton of AC Fora is the first of the DLs in the rankings and I like this kid. He’s got a quick first step, is violent with his hands and can disengage blockers very well. He’s going to be a great interior defesnive lineman for whomever takes him. He has one offer right now. Lutoff-Elgin’s KD Outten is a Physical ball hawk at linebacker and is a punishing tackler. His height will be a little detering for the large schools at 6’0, but he can play at the next level and would be a great Southern Conference type player. Andrew Jackson’s Brooks Horton is the first OL on this list. He’s
a road plower who gets good hip angles and leverage on his blocks and holds them well until they are down field and the play is over. At 6’4, he’s a tad small for Power Five unless he plays inside at guard but he’s got great feet and could do that. I think he’s an FCS guy and will be great at that level. Gray’s JT Sowell is a fiery, aggressive blocker who has really good sklls. He won’t bet beat on his first step and he can move people out of the way very well for his backs. He’s very light (220) and that number has to go up. He’s athletic enough to play somewhere else on the field but to play at a high level, he’s got to put another 20 lbs on and his frame will hold that and then some. Right now, he’s a high level Division II prospect or possibly a Southern Conference type of player.
As it stands right now, here is your Top Fifty for 2024.
