The guys in the trenches rarely get their name in print and don’t get their names called out after a game unless they made a big mistake. But don’t think that we don’t recognize the guys on the line as impact players because they are responsible for allowing all of those big highlight plays to happen on Friday nights.
Sumter senior Mason Gregg (6’2,295) is one of those big mane impacting the games. The big senior lineman is an anchor in the Gamecocks’ offensive front, paving the way for a lot of ground yards and protecting the quarterbacks so they can make the big throws.
Last season, this big man graded out 81% on his blocking and had 19 pancake blocks, flattening would be defenders.
To add to his prowess on the football field, Gregg also gets it done in the classroom, boasting a 4.1 GPA. He has one offer on the table, from Benedict College, but should be getting interest from some division II schools. His height will hurt him in recriting interest from the Division I guys but he WILL play on Saturdays somwehre.
