Young Guns: First Look At 2025 Midlands Quarterbacks

It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to look to a rising sophomore class and seen several potential Division I prospects that early, but this Class of 2025 in the Midlands has a chance to be special. Here is a look at three guys (in no particular order)  from that class that have a chance to be at the top of the prospect list in the MIdlands for 2025, and a fourth that still needs some evaluation.

Will Wilson (6’1, 205), Richland Northeast High School: Wilson is a big athlete with a strong arm and started about half the season for the Cavaliers as a freshman. He’s displays good field vision and makes timing throws on a rope while delivering accurate long balls stretching the field. He has the mobility and wheels to extend plays and when he has to pull it down and run, he’s got good speed and is not easy to bring down. In seven games last year, he had 987 yards passing for 5 touchdowns and rushed for 855 yards and another 8 touchdowns. He is a 400 meter man for the track team and runs 2nd leg on the 4×400 relay team. As an 8th grader, he was part of the CA Johnson 4×400 state champion relay team. He is the son of long time coach Walt Wilson, so he has a good understanding of the game.

AJ Brand (6’1,185), Irmo High School: Brandt is the son of Irmo head Coach Aaron Brand, a 24 year veteram coach so he is anothe rvery cerebral players. Last season as a freshman, he was an athlete for the Jackets, playing wide receiver, some defensive back, as well as quarterback. He has been full time quarterback im the off-season, in both 7 on 7 and in camps. He’s performed so well at camps that he fieled two verbal offers from Division I schools, Charlotte and Old Dominion. This season he takes the reigns of the Yellow Jacket offense and is ready for the challenge. He’s got a strong arm, delivering crisp passes and has excellent wheels to make him a threat running the football.

Landon Sharpe (5’11,175), White Knoll High School: Sharpe is one that took the reigns at mid-season for the Timberwolves and had success. He started in five games on varsity and was 72 of 143 for 1,056 yards and 6 touchdowns. While Sharpe is mobile and can extend plays, he is more of a pure passer and as he adjusts to his wide receivers and the speed of a Varsity game, he is only going to get better. I look for him to be one of the better players in the Class.

Harper (6’0,165), Swansea: The verdict is still out on Jacob. He started the final two games for the Panthers due to injury to senior starter, but he filled in well and has earned the starting job as a sophomore for the 2022. Season. I will be keeping an eye on him to see how he performs this season.
