Sunshine State LB Chooses Gamecocks

South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer enjoyed more than just a barbecue on Independence Day, as he received yet another commitment for the 2023 class. Linebacker Jaden Robinson (6-1 215) of Lake City, FL announced his pledge to the Gamecocks via his Twitter page on Monday.

Robinson is the latest Sunshine State product to commit to the Gamecocks. South Carolina received a commitment from fellow linebacker Grayson “Pup” Howard last week, following the announcements of Florida products tight end Connor Cox, athlete Kelton Henderson, and safety Cameron Upshaw.

Robinson chose the Gamecocks from a “Top 4” that also included Kentucky, Maryland, and Michigan. He visited in May and returned for an official visit June 24th. Robinson said after the May visit that defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Clayton White let him know there was a spot for him on his defense.

“Just come and be a part of them, be a part of the program,” Robinson said. “He said I can come in a be an inside backer, and on third down come down and blitz off the edge.”

Robinson also took official visits to Maryland and Kentucky. Some of his other offers were Louisville, LSU, Florida, Florida State, Nebraska and Tennessee.

Robinson is the 13th commitment for the Gamecocks 2023 recruiting class. The only other Gamecock target with an announcement commitment date at this time is QB Dylan Lonergan on July 12th.
