USC football coach Shane Beamer cranked up his Twitter commitment alerts Sunday shortly after noon as players from the weekend of official visits were departing. Beamer sent out four “Welcome Home” commitment alerts, and three of the committed have been identified.
TE Connor Cox (6-6 227) of Jacksonville took to Twitter to announce his commitment. Cox made several unofficial visits to USC prior to his official visit this weekend. Some of his other offers were Minnesota, Maryland, West Virginia, Texas, Vanderbilt and Louisville. Cox played in five games last season and caught 7 passes for 148 yards.
WR Kelton Henderson (5-11 175) of Lehigh Acres, FL is the second of the official visitors to confirm his commitment to Beamer. He told Wes Mitchell of GamecockCentral in an interview after his visit that he had committed to the Gamecocks. Henderson is listed as an ATH in recruiting circles but was recruited by USC as a receiver. He scored six touchdowns last season and had 10 catches for 222 yards. He also had 20 tackles and 1 interception. Henderson also has an official visit scheduled with Michigan forJune 24th. Some of nis other offers were Auburn, Texas, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Penn State and Georgia.
The third to go public on Sunday afternoon was SAF Cameron Upshaw (6-3 185) of Perry, FL. He had narrowed his list to USC, Florida State, Nebraska, Maryland and Arkansas. He also has official visits scheduled with Arkansas and Maryland the next two weekends. Upshaw also had offers from Louisville, Nebraska, Virginia, Michigan State, West Virginia, Mississippi State and Iowa among others. Last season he totaled 52 tackles with one interception.
Two other official visitors from the weekend revealed on Twitter dates for announcing their commitment decisions. SAF Jalon Kilgore is set for this Wednesday. He included Clemson, Oklahoma, Michigan and Tennessee Tech along with USC on his short list. And QB Dylan Lonergan set his commitment announcement for July 5th.He has also taken an official visit to Alabama and is scheduled to visit Stanford June 24th.
