Guest things to consider

Pro's and Con's of this job

Pro's - the ferrari has already been built / just don't crash it. All the pieces have been put in place with a solid community to boot.

Con's - whoever takes over will be leading IL into 4A against the machine down there in Taylors, SC. Can still continue to get kids to state and create individual state champions but winning the duals title requires a trip through brushy creek road. IL's time in 4A will be short lived. By the time the class of 2023 (this year's 9th graders) are seniors ILHS will have over 1,600 students. My guess is IL will spend the next four years in 4A before moving on to 5A. Now you're having to compete in region against Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Clover, etc...and oh btw Boulware went to Northwestern. Give him those four years at Northwestern with the athletes they have there and watch out. The biggest problem with these kind of coaching jobs is you have to find someone with a big enough ego who believes they can do better than back to back state champions.....in a higher classification.

Don't get me wrong ILHS would be an awesome job in an awesome community / location. BUT hats off to the coach who follows the guy who brought ILHS their first state championship in.......anything!!!!! Tough act to follow.

IL will more than hold their own in 4A.  Anyone considering them an underdog or long shot in 4A has not truly watched them wrestle.  We wrestled them in a dual, watched them at dual state, watched them at Individual state, and follow them enough to know what they have coming back and up from 8th grade.....they are a serious contender.

This was absolutely needed for 4A to even be remotely interesting, as last year it was the least competitive classification with no one being close to Eastside. Lugoff going back, May River and IL going up should bring some spark back to 4A.
