2018 All-Midlands Football Team

Recommended Posts

The talent level in the Midlands is on a high and that makes it difficult in selecting the All-Midlands Preseason Football Team. We are going two-deep on this team so you will see two deep at every spot, meaning some positions will have more player selections.

The quarterback position was difficult, as there are so many talented quarterbacks in the Midlands. The two we selected, however, are nearly identical in the way they play and that is as improvisors who are big-play playmakers. The Running Back position was tough, as well, but there are four very solid guys on this list, each among the leaders in the state last season at carring the ball, with the exception of Ron Hoff, who was injured for most of the season. The wide receiver position was the most difficult of the offensive positions because of the talent in the Midlands area. The offensive line list has multiple Division I talents on it.

Defensively, the interior line pool is led by one of the state's top players for the 2020 Class, Alex Huntley. The Ends on this list are very dynamic and each a Division I prospect. The linebacker group is solid with big hitters and guys who lead the field in tackles, including Tyrik Richardson of Lugoff-Elgin who is the top returning tackler in the state statistically. The defensive backs list is a who's who list in the Midlands, with each of those guys primed to play a high level in college, led by Cam Smith of Westwood.

The kicker, Alex Herrera of Spring Valley, finished high in the national rankings in both punting and kicking by Kohl's kicking camps. He is ranked 55th in the nation.

Figured this would start a fight. It usually does.

Yeh, I figured it would too but that's a pretty dang good two deep team.
