The Class of 2024 Position Rankings for Midseason is here and there are several positions that are heavy with talent. These position rankings will definitely change by the end of the season but these are how we see them right now at the mid-season mark.
The Class of 2024 Quarterbacks is top heavy with talent but I think it falls a little short of the talent level of the 2025 Class. That said, there are some guys at the top of this list who will play on Saturdays. Gray Collegiate’s Riley Staton has matured into a very good quarterback; film from his first snaps on Varsity when he took over for an injured starter last year to today film are night and day. He’s a big kid with a strong arm and can deliver the ball in tight spaces. He camped very well this off season and I belive he is going to get some P5 offers. Crestwood’s Javion Martin is a baller. He was co-offensive player of the year for their region as a sophomore and leads the Midlands in total offense now (more than 1,900 combined rushing/passing yards and 25 touchdowns). Lexington’s Taiden Mines has got a chance to be very good if someone takes a chance on him. The hold up in his recruiting is his size but this kid can definitely play FCS and possibly in a G5 program. Cardinal Newman’s Duncan Skehan may be the most under rated of the Midlands quarterbacks. He’s got a good frame and one of, if not the, strongest arms in the Midlands. He throws long timing routes on a rope and is accurate. Camden’s Grayson White is on here for stats and his success, but this is a guy who is going to play another position at the next level. If Camden had anoter capable quarterbacks, White would probably be one of the Midlands top linebackers.
I feel it necessary to point out that some of these guys further down the list – Jon Hunt of Dutch Fork, Braylen Boyd of Ridge View, Drake Braddock of Gilbert, and Heath Moser of AC Flora are, for the most part, in back up roles this season. Hunt and Braddock have gotten significant snaps and have looked good. The sleeper of the group may be Moser of AC Flora. He has the talent to be every bit as good, if not better, than senior starter Carew Bates.
