The Falcons of AC Flora got a solid region win over Irmo this past week. RB Markell Townsend went for 200+ yards again and scored four touchdowns rushing and threw for a touchdown. This team’s offense is dangerous and makes them a strong contender in lower state 4A, which may be the best bracket in the state of all classes. This week, they take on a Lugoff-Elgin team who is 1-2 in region play.
Ridge View is 7-1 after blanking Westwood 35-0 this past week. The Blazers are peaking on offense right now and their defense has been strong all season. This week, they take on an RNE team that lost to Lugoff-Elgin this past week. Look for the Blazers to get another win, setting up a region crown showdown with AC Flora in the season finale.
Lugoff Elgin knocked off RNE this past week and did so with strong play from their ground game and actually struck through the air, as well. This Demon team is improved and I like the way they are playing but this week, they face AC Flora and I suspect another region loss for the Demons.
Irmo lost a 35-21 game to AC Flora this past week and the Jackets are in a must win position in these last two games against Westwood and Lugoff-Elgin. At 0-3if they lose to Westwood this week, it will effectively put them out of the playoffs.
Westwood was shut out by Ridge View this past week and dropped to 1-2 in region play. Now, they face an Irmo team that is fighting for stay in playoff contention. Irmo’s offense is strong and this should be a pretty good match up between the two teams. If Westwood beats Irmo, they should finish in third place in the region and eliminate Irmo from playoff contention.
The Airport Eagles’ woes continue as they lost badly to South Aiken this past week. I believe this team is more talented than their record would indicate but they have some deficiencies in a couple of key positions that is costing them from showing any improvement. They take on a North Augusta team who has won just 3 games this season but two of those games were region games. This is not going to be a pretty game for the Eagles and as I predicted, they will finish winless in region play this year.
