The Falcons of AC Flora made easy work of Westwood last week, knocking off the Redhawks with a 49-14 win for region play. RB Markell Townsend had another 200+ yards game and continues to be the leading force for the Falcons offense. This team is playing very well on both sides of the football and will face an RNE team who shocked Irmo last week.
Ridge View made it look easy against an improved Lugoff-Elgin team this past week. Solid play from quarterback Donald Tomlin and this strong defense the Blazers have had all season made it look easy against a good ground offensive attack from the Demons. This week, the Blazers will face an Irmo team coming off an upset loss at the hands of RNE.
Richland Norhteast got a 300+ all purppose yards game out of Quarterback Will Wilson to get a win over Irmo. The Jackets did not protect the ball well and gave up too much and the Cavaliers took advanatage of it. This week, the Cavs will face a team that is strong in all phases of the game in AC Flora. They will need their best game just to be competitive.
The Irmo Yellow Jackets took a tough loss to RNE this past week after turnovers cost them dearly. They got a good game out of quarterback AJ Brand with 200+ total yards for the game, but failure to protect the football cost them and an opportunistic Cavaliers team took advantage to win a close game. This week, the Jackets face a 5-1 Ridge View team who is playing very good football now.
Lugoff-Elgin lost to Ridge View this past week for their region opener. The Blazers defense limited the Demon’s rush attack and took advantage of field positions to run past the Demons with ease. This team must find some passing attack for their offense to win in the region. RB Sky Harter is dangerous but if he is the only weapon, these defenses will key on him and shut him down. This week, they take on a 1-5 Westwood team who is better than their record indicates. The Demons will move the ball against the Redhawks but the dangerous Redhawk passing game will challenge the Demons.
Airport lost to Aiken to drop to 0-1 in region play and really are just not able to put any threat of offense together, despite having the Midlands’ top wide receiver. This week, they take on a MIdland Valley team that they should be able to beat but if they don’t win this one, they will probably go winless in the region this season.
Westwood dropped a game this past week to the top 4A team in the Midlands, AC Flora. This team has the ability to score points with one of the Midlnds top wide receivers in Noah Jennings. But their defense has let them down this season and they need to get that corrected. This week, they take on a Lugoff-Elgin team who will challenge the Redhawk defense with a strong rushing attack. But the Redhawks offense should be ablt to put points on the board in this region match up.
