4A Notebook: Week Five

  • AC Flora got a win in a shoot out with Brookland-Cayce this past Friday,
    RB Noah Kelson

putting up 70 points. They had close to 600 yards total offense in the game and running backs Noah Kelson and Markell Townsend had fantastic games, scoring 4 touchdowns between them. This week, they take on a tough Camden team who has dropped their last two games. Turnovers have hurt the Bulldogs and the Falcons don’t seem to have a weakness.

  • Ridge View got a 27-0 win in an abbreviated game against Spring Valley. Honestly, the Vikings are not a good barameter to measure where the Blazers are right now, but the one thing we do know is the defense is playing lights out football. This week, they take on a down but improving Dreher team and should be able to exert their offensive athority in this game.
  • The Irmo Yellow Jackets were off this week and hopefully it was enough time
    Irmo QB AJ Brand

to heal up their quarterback, AJ Brand, before they host Hartsville Friday Night. This Red Foxes team will be the fastest team the Jackets have seen and the Wing-T offense they run is executed to near flawlessness. Defense will be key for the Jackets this week and they will not match the speed of that offense so playing assignment football is an absolute must.

  • These Lugoff-Elgin Demons are playing pretty good football right now. I’m
    RB Sky Harter

not so delussional that I don’t realize they have not beaten any great football teams, but their execution is very good. Running back Sky Harter is one of the leaders in the Midlands in rushing and with just a little passing offense, they’ve opened lanes for him. Defensively, they are playing well and linebackers KD Outten and Chandler Rush have been stellar, combining for 77 tackles. This week, they play an 0-3 Fort Mill team who has lost to three pretty good football teams, but can’t seem to find any offense.

  • QB Will Wilson

Richland Northeast was off this past week after losing to Keenan a week ago. This week, they will take on the Spring Valley Vikings and will get a good test for their offense, as the Vikings defense is fast and physical. Spring Valley has struggled on offense this season and barely has 400 yards in four games.

  • Apollos Cook

The Airport Eagles are 1-3 and lost to Lugoff-Elgin this past week. There were some bright spots in the game, however, as for the past two weeks they’ve been able to get WR Apollos Cook more involved on offense. This week, they take on a Fox Creek team that they outmatch and this should be a good win for the Eagles.

  • Westwood is 0-4 after getting run over by the White
    Dylon O’Neal

Knoll Timberwolves this past week, giving up 56 points on offense. The Red Hawks have managed to move the footbgall through the air at times with QB Dylon Oneal and WR Noah Jennings. But they have not played well in the trenches on either side of the football. This week, they hit the road against a Midland Valley team that they should be able to outman. The Red Hawks need a win to boost the spirits before they hit region play.
