Week Four Prospect Watch

With Week Four upon us and three behind us, it’s time to start spotlighting some of these players who I feel are being missed or flat out ignored in the recruiting circles.  Some of these guys may or may not have offers but all have demonstrated the prowess on the field to be able to play at some level in the college ranks.

Patrick Swygert, Hybrid Athlete, Batesburg-Leesville (2023)
6’5, 235
I’ve been pushing this kid since I first saw him this past Summer. He’s a jumbo athlete who can play multiple positions. He’s got quick feet (plays basketball) and is violent with his hands when blocking. He can run and has soft hands and is a menace when lining up at tight end. He’s also a good defensive end. This guy is raw and ready to be molded into whatever a program needs in a big athlete. He’s got a frame that can hold another 30-40lbs and I believe he rates out high as an OL prospect. He’s got a 6’11.5 wingspan and runs a 4.9 40. He’s got the potential to be a DII All-American but I believe he can play at a higher level than that.

Javion Martin, Quarterback, Crestwood (2024)
6-1,190

Marttin is an athletic quarterback who can move the chains by land or air. But don’t look at this kid as a one-dimensional skill player. He can flat sling the football. He’s got a quick release and throws catchable balls. He was the region co-offensive player of the year as a sophomore and he has 750 yards passing in three games with 9 touchdowns passing and 2 rushing.

AJ Reyes, Running Back, Cardinal Newman (2023)
5’9, 170
Ok, I know he is smaller than what most coaches are looking for but before you pass judgement, watch the film. This kid has wheels and navigates traffic as good at any back in the Midlands. He follows his blocks well, he bursts off of them to open seams and when he is in space, he has a second gear that creates separation. He’s rushed for 450 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2 games and is the best back in SCISA. Bobby Wallace of Conway (2005) was listed at 5’8, 180 when Spurrier offered him at South Carolina. CJ Stokes of Hammond just signed with Michigan in this last class at 5-10,170 so don’t give me the size debate.

Sky Harter, Running Back, Lugoff-Elgin (2023)
5’9,175
This kid is a true sleeper. He’s playing for a school that gets little to no recognition but has not let that be a hurdle for his play. He’s a state champion weight lifter in the 180lbs class, runs a 4.6 40 and a 4.1 pro agility shuttle. He’s got power (benches 335) and speed and can slash traffic or break the corner. He’s rushed for 402 yards and 5 touchdowns for the Demons and has done it against some good competition. His film clips below are against Camden, one of the top defenses in the state and he went 180 on them.

Edward Robinson, Defensive Line, Blythewood (2024)
5’11, 230
I get it. He’s a 5’11 interior defensive lineman. But you have to watch the film. This is a guy who plays with good leverage, is explosive with his first step and violent with his hands. In three games, he has racked up 34 tackles, 10 sacks, yes, 10 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries. This guy is a wrecking crew in the backfield and causes chaos for opposing offenses. Just watch the film.
