Midlands ELITE UNITS: OFFENSIVE LINES

West Columbia (SC) The most unheralded, but one of the important groups on the football team is the offensive line. These guys get down and dirty for their teams and are in explosive contact every single play. Here is a look at the top offensive line groups in the Midlands in our Elite Unit presentation.

Jacob Beasley

1.  DUTCH FORK SILVER FOXES – I don’t think there is even a doubt in my mind that when it comes to the offensive line, year after year the Silver Foxes are successful in the trenches. This year, the Foxes return three starters from last year’s group that led an offense scoring 651 points and over 6,000 yards of offense (3400 rushing and 2900 passing). Back are center Pressley Honeycutt (5’9,245), tackle Jacob Beasley (6’5,270) and TE Prince Ross (6’0,220). Joining them will be Eli Furner (6’2,265),Trent Cobb (6’1,250) and Joe Evans (5’11,250).

Kindarious Kinard

2. AC FLORA FALCONS – The Falcons were explosive on offense by land and air and a big reason for the success of their backs is their line. They return the Midlands top offensive linemen in tackle Kindarious Kinard (6’3,310) and joining him will be center Alexander Koutrakos (6’1,310), tackle Ben Holmes (6’7,280) and Tighe End Jack Moseley (6’3,240).

Mason Gregg

3. SUMTER GAMECOCKS – The Gamecocks are always impressive up front and with three starters returning and two more that got good playing time, this group is going to be strong again in 2022. Braylon Burris (6’2,265), Mason Gregg (6’2,295) and Valdez Holmes (6’2,260) were all starters last season and are joined by Trevor Ingram (6’7,230) and Rany Howard (6’4,260) to fill out a large and capable line to pave the way for running backs and to protect their young quarterback.

Jolani Golston

4. BROOKLAND-CAYCE BEARCATS – The Bearcats return one of the largest lines they have had in many years and perhaps ever. Jolani Golston (6’5,295), Camden Sox (6’3,265) and Jakori Jones (6’5,330) are their returning starters. Joining them will be senior Jase Jones (6’5,250) and sophomore Obryan Leaphart (6’4,265).

JT Sowell

5. GRAY COLLEGIATE WAR EAGLES – The War Eagles generated a lot of offense last season with more than 5000 yards of offense combined. A lot of that has to be attributed to their outstanding offensive line play. Returning from that group are senior Elijah Radden (6’2,285) and juniors JT Sowell (6’3, 225), Carson Atkinson (6’2,245) and Trey Craig (6’3,220).

DJ McFadden

6. AIRPORT EAGLES – The Eagles are looking for success early and if they are able to get it, credit will have to go to the offensive line. They are coming along well in the off season and return a group that is amont the best in the Midlands. Seniors Julian Glover (6’1,310), DJ McFadden (6’5,320), Foster Barrs (5’10,215), and Chad Dulinsky (6’1,320) along with junior Dylan Barbery (6’6,270) are all back. McFadden will more than likely spend a lot of time on defense but they are going to need him early on the offensive front.

Logan Locklear

7. CARDINAL NEWMAN CARDINALS – The Cards have looked good in the off season and this group will only need to hold holes open for a split second for the backs they have. Most of the guys in this group would start on just about any other program in the Midlands. West Florence transfer and The Citadel commit Logan Locklear (6’5,290) leads the way, along with returners Michael Leonard (6’2,245), BC transfer Aiden Jeffcoat (6’2,255) and sophomore Jack Laird (6’4,270). Also up front will be TE Logan Busenlehner (6’5,205).

Alan Hartwell

8. SPRING VALLEY VIKINGS – The Vikings of Spring Valley are historically known for having great offensive lines. This group returns three starters and has added two very good first year starters to fill out another outstnading unit. Senior tackle Derrick Thompson (6’2,260), Hayden Cunningham (6’2,285) and junior Alan Hartwell (6’1,170) are all back. Joining them will be senior Carl Solomon (5’10,225) and senior Lyndon Thompson (6’2,210).

Xavier Islam

9. RICHLAND NORTHEAST CAVALIERS – The Cavaliers have some offensive weapons this season and will rely on a strong offensive front to help them out. They have the makings of a strong group with returning starters senior Exavier ISlam (6’3,230), junior Marquel Moser (6’5,320) and sophomore Cameron Brice (6’2,220). They are joined by a strong TE prospect Everet Joyner (6’4,230).

Jackson Osborne

10. HAMMOND SKYHAWKS – Hammond always leads the way in SCISA with big play offense and part of the reason for that is strong offensive line play. They have a great returning group back including senior Jackson Osborne (6’4,250), juniors Heath Jackson (6’0,220) and Jeb Berry (6’3,235) and senor TE Campbell Wall (6’2,215).
