Hawg Tuff – The Midlands’ Best Offensive Linemen from Class of 2023

The big guys rarely get any love in print but today, I’m going to talk about the guys in the trenches I’ve been seeing on film and how impressive a group of linemen we have in the SCVarsity MIdlands coverage area.

I came across the film of AC Flora tackle Kendarioius Kinard (6-4,305) last week and can tell you he was so impressive that I moved him to my top offensivie lineman in the Midlands. He is a bull dozer and honestly was the most dominating linemen I saw on film for this class in the area. Quick feet, explosive with his hands and relentless in driving his man either downfield or into the ground. He debuted in the Top 60 at number No. 13 overall and my top OL.

One that I just saw film on yesterday is Batesvurg-Leesville’s Patrick Swygert (6-4-240). Swygert is a two-way player, holding down the defensive end spot on defense. He’s a big, athletic guy who plays baseball and basketball for the Panthers. He won their baskeball defensive MVP award last season. He could probably play at some level at either position but I think his highest stock will be as an offensive linemen, moving down to guard at the next level. LIke, Kinard, he is explosive and very agile and holds his blocks well. He’s very physical and punsishes his opponents. He debuted at No. 20 this week.

Elijah Radden (6-1,285) of Gray Collegiate was already in the rankings. Radden has great feet for a big man and can drive block as well as any of them. Radden is another two-way player, working as a great run gap stuffer on the defensive line but I think his future is on offense. He is at NO. 15 on the Top 60 list and 2nd rated OL.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson’s Ja’Quan Sprinkle (6-4,290) is another tackle i got to see this past weekend on film. He  is a three year starter for the Bruins and is a strong, explosive blocker. He has a quick first step for a big man and holds his blocks very well, turning into a human bull dozer on contact. He has four offers on the table. He debuted at NO. 18 this week in the Top 60.

AC Flora’s Ben Holmes (6-7,280) is a strong pass blocker at tackle for the Falcons. His agility and wide wingspan make it near impossible for defenders to get in off the edge. He is ranked at No. 20.

One surprise was a transfer player from West Florence. Now at Cardinal Newman, Logan Locklear (6-5, 280) is a very agile, big bodied tackle. He’s got great feet and lateral movement, uses his hands well and is an absolute wrecking ball when pulling. He debuted at NO. 39 this week and has an offer from Navy.

Lower Richalnd’s Cam Newton (6-2, 260) shows a lot of physicality at the oint of attack. Playing guard for the Diamond Hornets, that is probably his home at the next level and Im certain he can play at aleast DII ball. He is at No. 44.

Lakewood’s Bryson Dickens (6-4, 280) is a physical lineman and great run blocker. He was on the Academic All American list last season for South Carolina. Dickens is ranked at No. 52.

Broolkland-Cayce’s Jaloni Goldstine (6-4,275) is an agressive road paver for the Bearcats. He makes aggressive first contact and holds his blocks well, enabling 1000 yard rushers in their offense. He is ranked at No. 55.

Dutch Fork’s Jacob Beasley (6-5,265) is one of those I look at and see that he’s making blocks but see a huge upside in him. He’s not quite as aggressive at the top 2 or 3 guys on the list and that hurts a little but his size and athleticism make him potentially a strong prospect for the Division II level. He came in at No. 57 this week.

Hammond’s Jackson Osborne (6-4,250) is a guy who doesn’t mind putting the pads on you. He’s physical when he engages and can get downfield quick on blocks. He looks a little tight and that causes him to stand straight up on a lot of plays but he has potential and cold be a great Division II player with his frame and athleticism. He debured at No. 58 this week.
