River Bluff RB Ready Run In 2022

Class of 2023 RB Cooper Johns (5-10,190) of River Bluff had his season cut short in 2021 due to a collar bone injury, playing just six games. But he says he is healed up and is ready to run in his senior season.

“Last season i was having a good year but ended up with that injury and having to sit out,” said Johns. “But I’m healed up well now and am ready for this season.”

As a junior in six games, Johns went for 788 yards and had a little more than 100 more receiving. He’s a weight room warrior and benches 315 and cleans 300, showing a lot of power.

He ran track in the Spring and this Summer has been showing some improved speed at camps. He recently ran consecutive 4.5 40’s at The Citadel, Mercer and Furman, where he turned in a 4.53. He has also camped at Anderson, Georgia State, Wofford and Clemson. He will finish out his summer camps at Kennesaw State and Virginia Tech.

Johns has played Varsity since his freshman year, backing up some very good River Bluff running backs like Braden Walker and Riley Myers. Remaining healthy this year will see him as the feature back in the offense and could prove to be one of the better running backs in a very strong field at the position in the Midlands for 2022.
