LUGOFF-ELGIN AT SUMTER
The Gamecocks are coming into this
game unbeaten and have only allowed 44 points in five games. Lugoff-Elgin is
2-4 and have been outscored by their opponents 130-100. That said, I think this
Demon team is better than their record would have you believe.
Demon Running back Eli McGee and quarterback Will Morris will have a huge challenge trying to move the ball against the Gamecocks, who have only given up 299 yards of total offense to their opponents in five games.
Sumter QB Hayden Vasquez has passed for 1000 yds and 12 TDs this season. DE Justus Boone has collected 23 tackles, 11 for loss and 5 sacks.
Players to watch: Sumter QB Hayden Vasquez,
DE Justus Boone, DB O’Donnell Fortune. ; Lugoff-Elgin LB Ethan Hix, QB Will
Morris, RB Eli McGee.
My Pick: Sumter
SPRING VALLEY AT IRMO
The Vikings are coming off a loss to
Lexington last week and are sitting at 2-3. Defensively, they’ve given up 157
points in five games and are giving up big plays. Their offense is strong when
it is on but sputters when it is off. Irmo is 2-4 and while their defense is
not bad, it has given up 158 points because their offense is three-and-out most
of the time.
Spring Valley’s defense can handle the Irmo almost-lethargic offense. But Can the Viking’s offense play consistently and not turn the ball over? Quarterback DQ Smith will need a good game to get this win for the Vikings. The sophomore signal caller has rushed for 315 yards and 5 TDs this season and passed for 1000 yds and 14 TDs.
Players to watch: Spring Valley QB
DQ Smith, WR Ty Hill, DL Trey Peterson; Irmo DE Kaseem Vauls, irmo RB Jayon
Chambers
My Pick: Spring Valley
