2019 SCVARSITY ALL-STATE FOOTBALL TEAMS

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams for the 24th annual SCVarsity All-State Football selection.

Selecting the All-State football team is one of those things that is an emotional paradox. As an analyst, it is one of the things that I love to do – watch athletes, evaluate their play, and break it down where they can be listed in as accurate manner as possible. At the same time, however, it is one of the most daunting tasks to perform because so many of the athletes are deserving of the honor, but only a few slots are available. Granted, we could list 200 athletes as some people do, but my personal feeling is that the honor is somewhat devalued when that is done. For that reason, SCVarsity.com selects only a 1st,2nd, and 3rd team with each team having the actual positions available on a football team, except for one “athlete” per each offense and defensive team and, of course, the specialist.

Each season provides a difficult task at one position or another and this year was no different. The number of deserving players at quarterback, wide receiver and defensive back is so high, that the choices were extremely difficult to make. Keep in mind as you view the SCVarsity.com All-State football team that we base our selections on the following premise; facts are better than rumors. What you see here are players that we have seen with our own eyeballs – either live or on tape – and in all cases have either spoken with the player’s coach or an opposing coach. Stats are certainly considered but are not the top priority on making these selections. For that reason, the SCVarsity.com All-State football team is the absolute best post-season selection in the state of South Carolina.

I hope you enjoy these teams and we congratulate these young men on their honor, as well as the coaches who mentored them both on and off the field.
