RIDGEVIEW is 2-0 in the region with wins over York and RNE and WESTWOOD IS 1-1 with a loss to South Pointe and a win over York. This game is going to produce the region runner up and I say that because I don’t think South Pointe will lose in region play. The Blazers have been inconsistent on offense but if you look at points scored and allowed, these two teams are actually about the same statistically. Ridgview has the better team in this match up, while Westwood has the two better playmakers; this will be a great game. AC FLORA is 2-0 taking on a tough OW team who is also 2-0 in region play. This game will produce the region champion, in my opinion while the loser will still have to battle for second place. The Falcons defense is solid but the offense took a hit with a ankle sprain to starting running back Matt Pack, jr. The defense will be challenged by OW’s ground game and this should be a great game. CRESTWOOD and DREHER are both 0-2 in region play looking for their first win. Both teams have struggled on the defensive side of the football this season and neither has been able to score consistently. Dreher is a little better battle tested with a tougher schedule and that could be the difference in this game. The winner will have a shot at a playoff spot if they can secure another win. LOWER RICHLAND is 2-0 in region play and looking to go 3-0 against Lakewood, who comes in 0-2 in region play. The Diamond Hornets have finally found their groove on offense after a shaky start to the season, scoring 98 points in the past two games. BROOKLAND-CAYCE is 2-0 and will travel to MIDLAND VALLEY to take on the 1-1 Mustangs. This is a tough place for the Bearcats to play, home to head coach Rusty Charpia and the Mustangs always play them tough. But this Bearcat team is firing on all cylinders and a win here, and one over Aiken next week, will put the Bearcats in contention to win the region outright in their final game of the season with rival Airport.
