2017 will bring some exciting football to the entire state of South Carolina and we will release our
all-area teams this week. The first release is the All-Midlands
Preseason team.
These are extremely difficult teams to select because the volume of
outstanding players in the area. Keep in mind that we are not
selecting an “all-prospect” team. This team is selected as if we were
coaching a team playing at the high school level and could select the
starters we wanted for that team. This has nothing to do with their
collegiate prospect ability.
That said, there are more than a dozen players on this list who will be
taking their game to the next level. There are, in face, a handful of
players such as Bryce Thompson (Dutch Fork), Hank Manos (Chapin), Wyatt
Campbell (Lugoff-Elgin), Damian Daley (RVHS), Channing Tindall (Spring
Valley), and Keylin Roach (Brookland-Cayce) who all have committed or
have offers on the table from Division I schools.
You will notice there are two sophomores on this year’s team. Both of
these young men are going to be stellar players. David Cromer
(Lexington) has proven to be a strong player at the linebacker spot for
the Wildcats, who will rely on their defense greatly this year. The
two-sport standout will be a major prospect in both baseball and
football. Ke”Shaun Williams (Batesburg-Leesville) is, in my opinion,
the top defensive back prospect in the Midlands right now as a
sophomore.
